Denial

April 19, 2012

Gold-headed tacks flew in with astronomical speed
And stopped smack there
As if they had always been stillness and nothing else.
Effortlessly swatting down these ornamental darts
With imperious disdain,
Terry shot back a terse refusal to be moved.

Could this stonewall jailer be but infused
With compassion for those opposite the bars!
What we need now is this unlikely challenger
Pounding on the gates of an amazed castle.
